When do I get reimbursed for eligible HSA expenses?
ASEBP will process all HSA expenses you’ve submitted and reimburse you to a maximum of your available credits by direct deposit according to the schedules below. Contact your employer if you don’t know which HSA year you are enrolled in, or how often your HSA is paid each year.

*The Run-off Period is a 60-day grace period. During this grace period, you can submit any expenses you incurred during your HSA year that you haven’t yet sent to ASEBP. Once the run-off period passes, any expenses you incurred in the previous HSA year will not be considered for reimbursement.
+Reimbursements are staggered throughout the months indicated in the charts above. This means that if your HSA year is September 1 to August 31 and you submit an expense on June 1, you will be reimbursed within the month of September.
Semi-annual HSA
If your HSA expenses are paid semi-annually, the following chart lists your approximate reimbursement dates:
|
HSA Year September 1 – August 31 |

February 28/29 |

March 1 – August 31 |
October 30 |
December 29 |
+Reimbursements are staggered throughout the months indicated the chart above. This means that if you submit an expense on March 1, you will be reimbursed within the month of December.
Notes about getting reimbursed:
- Eligible expenses cannot be reimbursed over multiple HSA years. If an expense is not fully paid by the end of the HSA year in which it was incurred, it will not be fully reimbursed.
- You can submit expenses that exceed the total amount of credits currently in your HSA, but you will only get reimbursed up to the amount of actual credits at the time of payment. The remainder will stay in your HSA until more credits are deposited by your employer or the HSA year ends, whichever occurs first.
- ASEBP will only reimburse you when your total expenses submitted are more than $50. If you submit less than $50 worth of expenses over the course of your HSA year, you will only be reimbursed at the end of the run-off period of your HSA year, provided you have a sufficient number of credits.
