ASEBP Structure
ASEBP uses a number of approaches to meet the health needs of its covered members. ASEBP will continue to provide benefit coverage for health and medical services as well as long-term disability income replacement. ASEBP also understands how the health of individuals and their workplaces are interdependent and that the prevention of negative health issues needs both of these areas to be addressed.
Benefits
ASEBP benefit coverage is intended to provide coverage for health care services and supplies which are not covered, or covered to a limited extent, by the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan. Depending on your plan, this can include coverage for prescription medicines, hospital accommodations, vision care, hearing aids, a range of other health services and even coverage for care needed when you are outside of Alberta or Canada.
You can get information about your plan by logging in or by calling ASEBP and speaking to a Benefit Specialist.
Coordinated Claims Management
Using a proactive approach to the management of Extended Disability Benefits, ASEBP introduced its new Coordinated Claims Management (CCM) Division in 1994. CCM brings together the employer (usually a school jurisdiction), the employee representative (union) and health care professionals to support ASEBP in assisting the employee's recovery, rehabilitation and ultimately, their safe return to the work force.
For answers to questions about CCM or Extended Disability Benefits coverage, please call ASEBP and speak to a Benefit Specialist.
Individual Health
Individual Health is another service ASEBP has made available to all covered members. For Your Health – The Health Information Line connects covered members to a Registered Nurse who can provide reliable answers to common health questions and information for health resources.

School Jurisdiction Support Services
School Jurisdiction Support Services (SJSS) provides a central point of contact for all communications between ASEBP and school jurisdictions. SJSS works with school jurisdictions to share best practices, address any gaps in communications and work collaboratively on arising concerns.

Workplace Health
ASEBP believes healthy workplaces and healthy people go hand in hand. That's why, in addition to providing benefits and disability management to the education sector, we offer leaders a range of services to enhance individual and workplace health through ASEBP’s Workplace Health.
ASEBP’s Workplace Health works with school and school jurisdiction leaders and their staffs to build on those things that contribute to health, and to design and implement action plans that improve the health of individuals and the workplace.
